Vacation and Floods
The flooding problem, which was such an issue in the trip I had up to Montana got a little clarified today, when my brother-in-law was at a family meal. When I was coming up to the state my family was reporting that there was sever flooding in Billings; they had seen on a news program pictures of a waterfall that had developed on the Rimrocks north of the city. The problem was the waterfall only was there for a few hours; it was the result of a flash storm. While there is a lot of moisture in the area, the problem is no where near the what my family felt it was. They were adding all of the situations together to come up with a false situation totally failing to recognize that some of the events were past and getting better.

Floods While on Vacation
Eastern Montana is not known for its abundance of water. In fact the area has been in a drought for the past 10+ years, and has been struggling. However, so far this year they have received more rain already than they would expect in the entire year, and there is another storm coming to give them a couple of more inches. This has led to a lot of flooding. The Yellowstone is at near flooding all along its course. The problem with this is that the mountain snows have yet to melt. The water causing the melting at the moment is from rain; the snows have yet to start to come down. It sounds like all this could only be adding more water to the Missouri/Mississippi river system.
(BTW I am listening to it raining quit hard as I write this.)

Weather
The weather has been weird this year. For the first four months, Denver got very little moisture. However, it has received a few inches in the past couple of weeks. Now it is getting a series of thunderstorms; at least they are not a lot of moisture in them, so flooding is not a problem. However, there are a lot of wind and lighting. Fun.

Things Are Changing
This past week I had several changes to my life. The first is that I went mobile; I had been holding out to see if the iPhone would be coming to Verizon. There are rumors that they will have something in August. However, since I was approaching 6 months since my contract, they were offering me a Droid for less than $100. I could not pass up this price. (I would be surprised if the price of the Verizon iPhone would be less than $200.) So I now have the Droid, and it is set up to do most of the things I want to do. I am able to listen to the Pride 48 stream on the way home from work. (Since they are all set up with Eastern time, you have to rush to get home to listen to them.) I have also setup things for the chat room, but this may not work with the stream. However, I am mobile.
The second thing new is this blog has its first follower. Now I have to make sure that I produce better and regular content. I know that the past few weeks have been little more than weather reports. Well that is an important issue in my life as one of my hobbies is gardening, and weather is important in that.
Now to the garden: my sister and I planted a lot of the seeds: carrots, zucchini, swiss chard, and beans. This just about completes one of the plots. There is room for one more row, and I am holding out for red beets and kohlrabi. The second plot has a lot of perennials, so there is little room other things. We are going to put in a cucumber and acorn squash. We are also starting to lay down the soaker hoses to make watering easier. We will finish things tomorrow.
The weather is very warm. The wind has been stiff today too. It just is not cold. That is an improvement.

The Weather Persons Are Wrong
The weather predictions that the middle of the week was going to be cold and wet was wrong...at least for Denver. It is cool but pleasant. There is a lot of clouds in the sky, but it is not raining yet.
There have been tornadoes in Colorado though, and that is a little early. Usually it takes some heat in the area for them to develop, so they usually start in June. However, they are usually just getting started when they are in our area; it is places east of us that get hit.
Well, I hope this is an indication of warmer weather, and hope for my tomatoes.

The Garden
Now that we have started planting things in the garden, the weather people still insists on predicting snow later in the week. Actually I don't think snow will be that bad, but I am more worried about the temperatures. Tomatoes really set in better when the temperatures are on the warm side. I think they will be okay, but they might not start as fast as they would if it was in the 50's.

Rain
It is raining this evening, and the air has been cleared of all of the garbage that has been making me sneeze. Also the temperature is still warm.

Spring Continues
The temperatures remain moderate. There is a lot of wind, but spring continues to progress. It might cool down some this coming weekend. Will there be something put into the garden plots?

It Has Warmed Up
The weather has warmed up today. It was wonderful coming home to night. If the bus was not going all the way for me, I was going to space out on the bench and listen to my podcasts. Unfortunately, the first bus was a long one. Maybe tomorrow if the weather holds.

A Nice Spring Day
Today was a nice day after the storms last night. There was a little rain in the very early morning. However, the sun was out quit early, and it warmed up nicely during the day.
I went to breakfast with the sister. We went to Hot Cakes for breakfast. It was nice. I then had a play, Mariela in the Desert, was wonderful.
I am looking forward to a nice tomorrow.
Storm
I love a good storm, particularly at night when I am trying to sleep. However, the storm last night was a LOUD one. It did not bring a lot of moisture, but it kept me awake for a good part of the night with the wind howling around my building. (Bonita disappeared, so I think she found a corner and just curled up for a snooze while it was happening.)
This morning it continues to rain, but the soft pit-a-patter is a welcome relief.

Another Week Is Over
It is Friday again, and it is raining today. There was a little snow fall, but at least here in Denver, it melted as fast as it feel. The mountains got some accumulation, but they wanted it.

Rain
It is raining today. At least it was dry when I was traveling between job and home. This evening it is raining quit hard. It looks like it will continue through the night. At least part of the weekend will be wet.

Looks Like Rain
It is cloudy, and cool again today. There is the possibility of rain, but it has not started yet.

It is cooler
The weather has gotten a little cooler today. There is good chance it might rain latter in the week. Snow, however, is not in the mix.
Work continues on. It at least keeps me busy during the day. I think I could easily find better things to do with my time.
