Fall is here

Fall is here in Denver. We have not had that killing frost, but many of the trees are starting to turn colors and drop their leaves. The temperatures are a well come relief from the heat of summer. However, there is also a certain melancholy to the season. It is the season of the harvest, before the on coming winter. It should be a season of abundance, if everything that was planted in the spring was successful grew, but the condition is a very big one. Everything does not always grow as well as we would like. Needless to say, this past summer was not that great.

The Name is Brother Cinaedus

One of the questions that I have been asked is where does Brother Cinaedus come from; am I really a monk? Now the short answer is no, but there are past issues that are part of the nom d'internet.

In my junior year of college, I became involved with a group called Campus Crusade for Christ. This was a large part of my last two year of college, and I even looked at becoming a part oftheir organization. However, things did not work out, and I did a yearof being a mathematics teacher, but that did not work out well.Iwasthen looking for something else to do. As I had been attending a Methodist church while I was teaching, I applied to a couple of Methodist seminaries. I was accepted to Iliff School of Theology, and I moved to Denver.

This was an enjoyable time for me; it was a time of discovery. I got to explore what I had always expected: I am gay. It was a good place and time to do the exploration. While the gay issue was not the predominate issue at the time I was in seminary, it was on the horizon. (Women in the ministry was the issue then. The Anglican Church was splitting over the ordination of women.)

However, after three years of classes and discovery, I discovered something about my faith. I could talk about theology and all that stuff, but I had a problem with one small assumption: is there a god. After some thought I found that I really did not know, and I could not go into the ministry with that standing. So I left school.

School was not a bad time for me,and I was fascinated with the Medieval monastic tradition. So when I was trying to come up with a nom d'internet, I though I would start with the monastic title of Brother. I then added the Latin word for sodomite...or gay. Brother Cinaedus.

That is the story behind the name.

Missing the Warm Summer Nights

When I lost my job I moved into my sister's condo. Now, in my own little apartment, the air conditioning was not good, and it could cost as much for one week of air conditioning as it would cost to run the rest of my apartment. Needless to say, I did not run it very often. I had three floor fans that I would run in different places of the apartment. Now I am missing the warm nights. There were night I would be up in the living room in front of one of the fans.

My sister keeps the temperatures down in her place. She is doing it for the cats, because she feels they need it. Her cat has along coat, and mine has a fuzzy coat, so they might be better with the cooler temperatures. I guess I just missing the independence I had with my apartment.

Last Week

Last week was another of those weeks that make it hard to be looking for a job. While I was sending out my little resume, there were no actual incoming communication from the outside. That can be very disheartening.

The big new thing is Google+. I got a special invitation to join it in its development. I wonderful to be in there with others discovering the new things that are on the site. If you want to try it out let me know, and I will pass on one of my invites to you.

Birthday

I had a birthday this past weekend. I usually do not like much fuss, but this year I let my Facebook show it to my Friends. I did enjoy the wishes that were posted on my wall by people. There were even people, who I am not certain even knew who I was stopping by my Wall to leave wishes; Gavin mentioned it on his live show. Thank you everyone.

I Am Still Looking

The job search continues. Last week I think I submitted my resume a record number of times. There was a large number of postings last week that were a good match. I also re-interviewed at one of the temp agencies, which I had been in contact; I had gotten little attention after the original interview. I think they are now a little more interested.

This week I had a phone interview today for another agency. I just hope all this activity will be productive.

Another Week Starts

Another week has started. It has been a while sine I have had an interview, but also the number of positions that were being posted at the end of last past few weeks was also down. However, this week the postings are up; I have sent out this week already are more than the previous three weeks, so things are looking better.

Another week starts. I had a fair week last week. I had an interview last week that I will not be hearing about until this week.

Also this week I am planing a trip back to Montana. Actually my sister is planning the trip, and she is including me in the plans. I just am not happy with how the plans are being developed. I am being included; however, I really do not remember being asked if I wanted to go. I do not have anything specific planned, so I am on the trip. Just another part of my life I do not have under control.

Job Search

Today I had an interview. It was not the first, nor the best, nor one for a position that I was really impressed. However, I am trying to look at the situation differently; I want to look at each event as they happen, and take some joy in the good ones. I have been looking at things over periods, and getting down when the result of the total were not a new job. This ignores the small positive things which are good in they happened even when they do not bare the fruit I wanted.

SO, I had an interview...WOO-HOO. Now on to the next thing.

Another

Last week was another unproductive week. I still have some resumes out the I have not heard about, so there might be some hope. There was an emergency contact from one of the temp places, but it was not something I could get to easily; the bus ride would have been over 4 hour to the location, and I would get there only 2 minutes before I was needed there.

More and More

The job hunt did not go well last week again. I had no interviews. I am getting very tired of the process. Things are just not going well. I am not that hopeful of getting anything that soon.

The week before last there were interviews. Last week the rejections came in. So I am now back to the start.

Things have gotten better on the job search. I had two interviews and one this week. Now, if I can just get the interest of one of these employers.

This week the job search was escalated a bit. I had a couple of the Temporary Agencies call about sending me resume over to some of their customers. This was an improvement. More to come.

Well the job hunt this week. I did hear from a couple of the Temp Agencies; however, the thing they were looking at fell through. They were calling me though. I have also sent out over 25 copies of my Resume, so it was a most productive situation.

One of the problems is still my sister. She does not have any idea of what is done in accounting. For her it is all only data entry, and she does not have the slightest idea the difference between account payable, accounts receivable, and pay roll. She feels that they are totally interchangeable; someone who does one should be able to do the other. I know that she is helping me at the moment, but I do not have to apply to all the listings she sends me.

OK, here is the boring part, so let us keep it short. No interviews, no offers, I am still unemployed.
